The short version
If you download the free log, I collect your email address and nothing else. No name, no location, no questions about your circumstances. I use it to send you the log and a short series of emails about the method, and you can unsubscribe from any of them in one click.
There is no analytics, no tracking pixel and no advertising code on this site. I don't know who you are, how you got here, or what you read.
Please don't send me details of your case. I'm not able to advise on individual situations, and this isn't a safe place to store them. The rest of this page explains all of that properly.

This policy is written to UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you're reading it from the EU, the equivalent EU GDPR rights apply to you in the same way.
What I collect, and why

About the purchase information
The workbook is sold through [MERCHANT OF RECORD], which acts as the seller of record. That means they take the payment, not me. I never see your card number, and I don't have access to it at any point. What reaches me is the information needed to deliver the product and account for the sale: typically an email address, the country you bought from for tax purposes, and the order itself.
What I deliberately don't collect
This is unusual enough to be worth stating explicitly, because for this audience it matters more than the average privacy policy assumes.
- No name field. The signup form asks for an email address and nothing else.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising or conversion tracking of any kind.
- No analytics or advertising cookies. Nothing here follows you between sites. See the cookies section below.
- No tagging or segmenting by circumstance. Your email address isn't labelled with anything about your situation, your case, whether you bought anything, or how you found this site.
- No list sharing, renting or selling. Ever, to anyone, for any amount.
- No data broker enrichment. I don't run your address through any service that appends information to it.
Please don't send me details of your case
Why this section exists
Many people reading this are in the middle of family proceedings. It's a natural instinct to explain your situation when you email — and I'd rather tell you clearly, up front, that this isn't the place for it.
I can't advise on an individual case; that needs a qualified lawyer where you live. And an ordinary email inbox is not an appropriate place for detailed information about children, proceedings or anyone's private life.
So: please keep messages to the method, the product, or a problem with your order. No names, no dates from your file, no documents, no screenshots, no information about your children or the other parent.
If you do send something like that, I won't use it for anything, I won't reply to the substance of it, and I'll delete it once I've answered whatever I can properly answer. It won't be added to any record about you.
If you're asking for the workbook under the hardship offer, all I need is the request. I won't ask why, and you shouldn't tell me.
Who else can see your information
Only the companies whose tools are needed to actually run this. Each of them is bound by a contract that limits them to acting on my instructions.
- The email provider — EmailOctopus — stores the list and sends the emails.
- The merchant of record — [MERCHANT OF RECORD] — takes payments and delivers the file.
- The web host — [HOSTING PROVIDER] — serves this page.
Beyond that, information is only ever disclosed if the law requires it — for example, a valid court order or a legal obligation I can't refuse. Nothing else.
Where in the world
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that's the case, transfers are covered by the safeguards UK law provides for them — the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or an adequacy decision covering that provider. In practice the only thing being transferred is an email address.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. There's no consent banner because there's nothing to consent to.
One thing worth being straight about: this page currently loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address in the process. That is a real transfer of information, even though nothing is stored on your device. [IF FONTS ARE SELF-HOSTED, DELETE THIS PARAGRAPH]
The same applies to the signup form on the front page: it is provided by EmailOctopus and loaded from their servers, so they receive your IP address when the page loads — before you type anything, and whether or not you sign up. If cookies or analytics are ever added — and there's no plan to add them — this page will be updated first and a proper consent banner will appear before anything is set.
How long things are kept
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. After an unsubscribe, the address is kept briefly in a suppression list so you don't get accidentally re-added, then removed.
- Emails you send: deleted once the exchange is finished, other than anything I need to keep as a record of a sale or refund.
- Purchase records: six years from the end of the relevant accounting period, because UK tax law requires it.
If you've been on the list for a long time without ever opening anything, I'd rather remove you than keep sending. Dormant addresses get cleared out periodically.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask me to:
- Tell you what I hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct it if it's wrong.
- Delete it.
- Stop or restrict what I'm doing with it.
- Hand it over in a portable format, or send it to someone else.
- Object to processing I've based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time — the unsubscribe link in every email does this instantly, and you don't need to contact me or give a reason.
Email [PRIVACY EMAIL ADDRESS] and I'll deal with it within one month, free of charge. In practice, for a list that holds only an email address, most of these take about a minute.
There's no automated decision-making or profiling here of any kind.
If you're not happy with how I've handled it
You can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling their helpline. If you're in the EU, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your own country. You don't have to raise it with me first, though I'd rather you did so I can fix it.
Children
This site is aimed at adults dealing with a separation, and nothing here is intended for use by anyone under 18. I don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has signed up, email me and I'll remove the address.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what's done with your information, subscribers will be told by email before it takes effect — not quietly updated.
